Unlike many other Yankee legends, Derek Jeter didn't inherit a winning squad. He first came into the Majors in 1995 and almost instantly turned the Yankees into a new dynasty in 1996, with their first World Championship in 25 years - the team's longest drought since being introduced into Major League Baseball in 1901. With Jeter now retired and his legacy firmly intact, items of rarity of The Captain's demand a premium. Similar to Mantle, rookie & pre-rookie single signed baseballs are extremely sought after in the hobby. Offered here is a pre-rookie single signed Official Pioneer League baseball signed in blue ballpoint pen by a relatively unknown Jeter prior to being called up to the Majors. Jeter's signature would change dramatically over the next few years, making single-signed baseball examples such as this nearly impossible to find given the fact Jeter was seen merely as a prospect at that time. The baseball shows good use, and was likely signed by Jeter after use in a cross-league game when he was playing for the Gulf Coast League c. 1992. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA) for the autograph as well as a Letter of Authenticity from Iconic Auctions guaranteeing game use.
