In March 1869, after his release from prison after the Civil War, Jefferson Davis and his family moved to 18 Upper Gloucester Place in Dorset Square, London - although Davis returned to the U.S. alone in October of that year and stayed until the following August. Offered here is an impressive 1" x 3" cut page with this London address handwritten in pencil by Jefferson Davis, who goes onto also add his full name in script. In fine condition with some staining and handling wear - judging from the address, the scrap paper may have been carried around by someone as reference. Perhaps the former Confederate President himself? Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
