In 1931, famous aviator Charles Lindbergh and Pan American World Airways head Juan Trippe were interested in developing a great circle air route across Alaska and Siberia to China and Japan. In the summer of 1931, with Trippe's support, Lindbergh and his wife flew from Long Island to Alaska, and from there to Siberia, Japan and China. Offered here is a letter dated November 12, 1931 from on Lindbergh's personal letterhead, addressed to Jesse S. Butcher of CBS. In the letter, Lindbergh discusses flying this very same route again in the near future. Reads, in full: "Dear Butch - Many thanks for your letter of the 10th. I was very sorry not to have seen you last Sunday. However I hope to have a chat with you in the not too distant future. At present I am getting ready for a flight over the Pan American line next week. With best wishes, C.A. Lindbergh". Lindbergh has signed at the conclusion with a bold and neat steel tip autograph. In fine condition with minor handling wear, even toning, and one horizontal and two vertical creases. The stunning signature has received a grade of GEM MINT 10 - the nicest we have ever offered! Authenticated, graded & encapsulated by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
