While Yoda stands at just a hair above 2 feet tall, the creation and implementation of the Jedi Master in the Star Wars universe was a Herculean effort taken on by some of the greatest designers and artists in motion picture history. Showcased on this 10" x 8" glossy color photograph is the autographs of the twelve (12) key people involved in creating Yoda.
Fittingly we will start first with perhaps the most pivotal man in Yoda's design, legendary make-up artist Stuart Freeborn, who created the general design of Yoda (Freeborn actually based Yoda's design as a hybrid of his own face and Albert Einstein's!). Assisting Freeborn in the design of Yoda was another pivotal name in the Star Wars universe: Joe Johnston. Johnston has also signed this photo along with Freeborn. Another key influence in the creation of Yoda, legendary voice actor Frank Oz, has boldly signed just to the left of Yoda's head. Followed up by the key technicians who helped implement the special effects and movements of the Yoda puppet, other key signers on this photograph include: Dave Barclay (who adds "Yoda Puppeteer"), Deep Roy (noted actor who played Yoda in the walking scenes in "Empire"), Nick Dudman (makeup artist who assisted Stuart Freeborn in Yoda's design), Nick Maley (makeup effects artist, also assisted Freeborn in the design and fabrication of Yoda), Wendy (Midener) Froud (sculptor who aided in fabrication of Yoda), Dennis Lowe (technical designer who worked on Yoda's animatronics), Ron Hone (added "S.F.X", assisted in animatronics), Bob Keane (added "Yoda", worked on animatronics) and Brian Johnson (added "SFX", oversaw general technical aspects of Yoda and won an Academy Award for his work on "Empire").
