Ott played his entire 22-year career for the New York Giants from 1926-1947. He was one of the most feared power hitters of his time, leading the National League in home runs six times, and he was the first National League player to hit 500 home runs. A 12-time National League All-Star, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951. Ott died in an automobile accident in 1958 at the age of 49, making his signed material an always desired commodity. Offered here is a rare black and white 8" x 10" photo of Ott on field with his bat. Signed nicely by the player in black steel tip, "To Master Robert Emmett Weiss, Best Wishes, Mel Ott". The photo has a pinhole at the top from being affixed to a wall and some minor creasing, but this does not at all affect the signature or overall beautiful preservation of the photo and autograph. Accompanied by full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
