Walt Disney remains a staple in American society even nearly 50 years after his death. His signature & image remain one of the most recognizable in the world, as his dream of bringing entertainment to kids & families alike lives on stronger than ever. Offered here for your bidding pleasure is an incredible display piece in the form of an original hand-painted production cel from Disney's 1948 classic "Melody Time". This particular cel was featured in a segment called "Once Upon a Wintertime" (or, perhaps more recognizable for the younger generation, in Disney Sing Along Song's "Disney's Very Merry Christmas Songs"). Adding to the allure of this piece is a bright red colored pencil inscription on the matting from Disney himself, reading, "To Douglas Moodie, with best wishes, Walt Disney", in his signature hand - possibly one of the most recognizable handwritings in the world. It was rare that Disney signed artwork to anybody that didn't hold an importance to him, and this instance was no different. Douglas Moodie was a producer for BBC at the time, and in the same year that "Melody Time" was released, he produced a radio program called "This Is Disney", featuring music from various Disney films. This was likely a thank you gift to Moodie for that work. The cel has been framed to an overall size of 17" x 16", ready for immediate display!
