Rare & desirable four-language 16" x 20" ship’s papers issued to “George Gibbs, master or commander of the Ship called George Washington...lying at present in the port of New Bedford, bound for Pacific Ocean laden with Provisions, Stores and Utensils for a whaling voyage.” Boldly signed in the middle by Andrew Jackson as President and countersigned by Secretary of State John Forsyth. The crisp white paper seal affixed to the left side remains fully intact. In very good condition, with a few edge tears, some staining above the signature, and professional reinforcements to intersecting folds on the reverse. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
