Thurman Munson, one of the most beloved figures in Yankees history, was an All-Star catcher from 1969-79 and the Yankees' captain from 1976-79. On Aug. 2, 1979, while practicing takeoffs and landings on his Cessna Citation jet, Munson crashed short of the airport and was killed. The Yankees immediately retired his uniform number 15. Offered here is a 4" x 4" photograph of the diamond at Shea Stadium, signed by Munson in blue ballpoint pen. In fine condition. Authenticated & encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
