With the tragic passing of all-time great bassist Cliff Burton in 1986, long before their worldwide fan fair and acclaim, items signed by Metallica's original lineup are hard to find. But perhaps the rarest form of Metallica signed items come in the form of this 8" x 10" promotional photograph. With the group on the brink of super stardom but not yet to that point, and given their brand of music and it's underground appeal at the time--things such as promotional photos were not really something that was done for bands on the metal scene. As a result, from what little media publicity that the band received prior to Burton's passing, only about 100 or so photos were known to have been signed by the group (mostly done for their fan club, of which only 2-4 are known to have survived the test of time, and a select few others).
That being said, feast your eyes here on an extraordinarily rare and coveted MegaForce Records promotional photo, beautifully signed by the band in various inks. James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and the late great Cliff Burton have all signed, and with Lars dating the photo "86", this positions the photo as likely one of the final photos signed before Burton's passing. The photo exhibits some minor handling wear, however the signatures are strong and in very good condition given the age. The photo has been matted and framed to an overall size of 13" x 17", ready for immediate display! Metallica collectors take notice!
