Grant authorizes his Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to an envelope containing, "my letter to the Provisional Government of Paraguay accrediting John L. Stevens as Minister Resident." Handsomely signed at the conclusion in black ink, "U.S. Grant." Some moderate toning along the fold lines, otherwise fine. Matted to an overall size of 12.25" x 14" overall.
