While times certainly have changed, some issues still remain. In 1948, Jackie Robinson just broke the color barrier and the country was trying to conform with many new policies and ideas in the terms of racial equality. While for some that advancement may have been suiting, for the George Peach, the idea was certainly worth mentioning and following. Offered here is a seldom seen handwritten (in another hand) & signed (full signature) August 10th, 1948 four page 7.25" x 10.5" letter with some great content, most noteworthy the mention of George Creels, who has been credited as the 1st Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan! While Cobb's involvement with the KKK & Creels remains unclear, this controversial letter certainly brings up questions regarding just how accepting the MLB was to the movement lead by the now fabled Jackie Robinson. Overall in fine condition with minor discoloration & handling wear. Iconic Auctions guarantees this item to pass authentication by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS). Full certification for this item can be acquired for an additional fee. Please contact our offices at 1-800-325-7127 or email us at Info@IconicAuctions.com for pricing and details.
