Scarce & desirable handwritten letter from legendary pitcher, Walter Johnson, on Cleveland Baseball Company Stationary. Letter is undated, but the mailing envelope included with the letter states June 21st 1935, The Big Train writes to Mr. Jones regarding his last year as a manager, 1935. The Indians would start out well, but tail off by the midway point of the season. Johnson obviously heard rumblings about the team, and ultimately Johnson would leave the team with 68 games to go in the season. Letter reads in full, “Just want to thank you for your letter. I appreciate your interest; our boys look better now and still feel we have a chance to do some good if the writers and fans will give these young boys a break. Thanks Again, Walter Johnson.” Overall in fine condition with two vertical folds & one horizontal, otherwise fine. We guarantee this lot to pass PSA/DNA or JSA authentication, and full certification can be arranged for an additional fee (please contact us for further details).
