Baseball's premier judge of talent, Connie Mack, labeled him one of the top half dozen hurlers in the history of the sport. He pitched the sole no-hitter of his career agains the Naps on May 12th, 1910, missing a perfect game by only one walk. He thrived for over two decades, despite enormous racial prejucide. He is one of the toughest single signed baseballs of all. There is no doubt that Chief Bender is one worthy of any baseball collection. We are pleased to offer this single signed Official League baseball, one of only a rare few in existence from the Hall of Fame's only American Indian member. The boldly and exceptionally formed blue fountain pen "'Chief' Bender" autograph stands out beautifully on the side panel against the light patina of the ball. Some light, nearly negligible spotting present, the ball is in overall very good condition for a likely 100+ year old baseball, the even toning only standing to add to the overall appearance of this rare specimen. Very light fading to the otherwise beautiful signature. An incredible piece of early baseball history! Accompanied by full Letters of Authenticity from both PSA/DNA & Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
